One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer in Temecula is meeting so many awesome wedding professionals! I first met Stacey as a fellow member of
Temecula Valley Wedding Professionals. She and I worked together on
Marlene + Michael’s wedding and she created the most GORGEOUS florals for their day!
I recently took some pictures of Stacey (and her super cute daughter!) and asked some questions about her business and recommendations for brides looking for their own wedding planner and floral designer!
Q&A with Temecula Wedding Planner Storybook Weddings & Events
Tell me a little bit about Storybook Weddings & Events! How long have you been in business? What inspired you to start a wedding planning and floral design company?
I have been in the wedding industry my entire life. My family owns a venue and catering company. I started Storybook Weddings & Events in 2009 and I had a career and college background in children’s fashions in my twenties. I decided to take my design passion and education and combine it with my knowledge of the wedding industry to start doing full service design, planning and florals. I love planning, but I needed a more creative outlet, thus my floral department was developed!
What do you love about working with wedding couples? What is your process in working with them?
I really enjoying inspiring them with new ideas while combining their personal desires. I like to get to know my couples, what makes them unique. Why do they click? What are their backgrounds, cultures and values? What is the most important thing to them on their wedding day? Is it the food, photos, decor, fun!? Most of all I like to see them having a blast while creating a gorgeous environment that they will forever treasure and be proud of when looking at their photos and listening to comments from friends and family.
You must have to stay on top of trends when couples come to you to complete their floral vision! What inspires you?
I am inspired by home decor magazines and blogs,. I am also inspired by the couples themselves, their personal style and their venue. Most importantly when I go outside for long walks, hiking or tree hugging…. nature itself inspires me to try new combinations. Nature is just that and it doesn’t judge based on colors, rules or shape. It just grows and we accept it that way with out judgment.
What should a couple know before hiring a floral designer?
Make sure that your style and the designer’s style are adaptable. Do not just price shop. Take the time to meet with them and look at their portfolio and reviews. Be sure you click and that your designer understands your needs. Be open to new ideas and let your designer do his or her job and grow based off of your ideas while you are allowing new ones. Most importantly understand that floral design is very detailed and labor intensive. You can not just go to Costco and put flowers in a vase and call it good! Most importantly remember quality over quantity if it comes down to it and anything that is worth something comes at a cost. Let’s design!
What do you do for fun?
Be outside, hike, bike, camp, river raft, tree hug, jump cliffs, dirt bikes, adventure and thrill.
What other information do you think is important as couples embark on planning their wedding?
Your wedding professionals can not help you with price questions via email. Set up a quick consult even if it is on the phone so you can get realistic quotes and make sure they understand your needs. This also allows you both to answer questions! Happy planning!
